MindShare Announces 2011 Kick Off and Newly Elected Alumni Chairpersons
Washington, D.C. – March 16, 2011 – MindShare, an exclusive CEO group for emerging and
high growth technology companies in the Washington, D.C. region announced the Class of 2011
as well as the newly elected Chairs for the MindShare Alumni Network.
Now entering its fifteenth (15th) year, MindShare was originally founded in 1997 to establish a
peer group and sense of community for entrepreneurs. Since its formation, MindShare has
become well known both in and out of the region. The peer-to-peer connections for CEOs and
the knowledge gained from numerous entrepreneur speakers, who are highly successful area
business founders, provides the members of MindShare significant value.
MindShare companies have created more than 20,000 jobs and over $5 billion in revenue. Many
MindShare companies have gone public via IPO and the group has raised over $1.2 billion in
venture funding.
Each year the MindShare Board, who founded the organization and is comprised of prominent
business leaders passionate about entrepreneurship, selects 40 to 60 of the region’s most
promising emerging growth companies to become MindShare members. The “Class” meets
once a month to discuss critical topics to building a successful company.
The 2011 Class kicked off on March 2 and featured speaker Ted Leonsis, an early executive and
Vice Chairman of AOL, and owner of the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals sports
franchises, who hosted the MindShare members at the Verizon Center for the Washington
Wizards versus Golden State Warriors basketball game.
The MindShare Alumni Network now includes over 550 CEOs who continue to stay involved in
building entrepreneurship, exchanging ideas, and starting new businesses together. Each year
the Alumni Network elects a new Chair and Co-Chair to lead the group in programming,
collaboration, visibility, and more.
MindShare is excited to announce Edwin Miller as the incoming Chair and Charlie Thomas as
the Vice-Chair. They have come together to energize the MindShare Alumni Network and
leverage the power of the group within the Washington D.C. region and beyond. “Charlie and I
are looking forward to the coming year with MindShare. So many great things have been
accomplished by this organization. It is an honor to be associated with the Organizing Board and
the hundreds of CEOs that are a part of MindShare,” said Edwin Miller.
Miller, an accomplished technology CEO, is most recently known for his leadership, growth, and
exit of Everest Software, an international E-commerce, POS, and ERP software business. He is
currently developing his newest venture, 9Lenses. Thomas is another well-known entrepreneur
who has built numerous successful technology companies in the region and is currently CEO of
Razorsight, a provider of Cloud-based business intelligence and profit analytics solutions for
